Goodness gracious – you have not lived until you have had a Grilled Shrimp Burger! Sweet shrimp flavor mixed with the char from the grill makes for a such a tasty bite!
The key to a great Shrimp Burger is only adding seasonings that complement the the delicious shrimp flavor, without overpowering it. This seasonings in this recipe were kept simple: only minced scallions, parsley, lemon zest and good mayo.
This burger is a great healthy alternative to traditional beef burgers, and oh so delicious! Great topped with aioli and/or sliced avocado! It’s a burger you can feel good about!
Grilled Shrimp Burgers
Shrimp makes a lighter burger option that is bursting with sweet shrimp flavor and fresh flavors!
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs. XL shrimp - peeled, deveined & patted dry
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 3 scallions or green onions - minced
- 2 tsp grated lemon zest
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
- Pinch of cayenne pepper
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp pepper
- 1 slice hearty sandwich bread - crusts removed, torn into large pieces
- 4 Buns of your choice - (brioche is our preference)
Directions
- Step 1 Pulse sandwich bread in food processor just until forms coarse crumbs – set aside.
- Step 2 Add shrimp to food processor – until mostly finely minced – about 7-8 pulses. Transfer to large bowl.
- Step 3 Combine mayo, scallions, parsley, lemon zest, cayenne, salt & pepper in a separate bowl – then fold in processed shrimp until just combined. Sprinkle bread crumbs over mixture and fold until incorporated.
- Step 4 Divide mixture into 4 equal portions. Scoop each into a ball, and flatten to make a 1 inch patty.
- Step 5 Cover & refrigerate at least 30 minutes or up to 3 hours.
- Step 6 Meanwhile, heat grill until hot (charcoal poured into 1 even layer OR gas grill turn all burners to High & preheat 10 minutes)
- Step 7 Lightly brush tops of burgers with oil and lay them carefully on the grill, oiled side down. Brush other side with oil. Cook burgers 10-14 minutes – flipping halfway through, or until starting to have grill marks.
- Step 8 Rest 5 minutes before serving.
