Strawberry Cream Cheese Stuffed Turnovers

0 Comments  /  Jump to Recipe

Quick & easy turnovers are made with puff pastry, stuffed with cream cheese & strawberries and topped with a sweet glaze!

They are so simple, but they seriously look & taste bakery quality! (I may be biased!) But we gobbled them down in no time!!

Here’s how you can make this delight in 5 steps!

  1. Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry does all the hard work!  Just thaw for about 45 minutes, unfold & cut each sheet into 4 equal size squares.
  2. Then mix sliced strawberries with a little sugar & cornstarch & stir to combine.
  3. In another bowl, use your hand mixer to combine 1/2 a block of cream cheese with vanilla & powdered sugar.
  4. Then we assemble!  In one corner, spread a tablespoon of the cheese mixture & top with strawberry mixture – allowing enough pastry to fold over diagonally to cover.  Then crimp sides with a fork, and brush with beaten egg white.
  5. Bake, let cool & drizzle with a mixture of powdered sugar, vanilla & milk.  Easy!

Ingredients
  • TURNOVERS:
  • 1 (17.3 oz.) package Puff Pastry - thawed according to package directions
  • 1.5 cups fresh strawberries - cleaned & sliced
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 4 oz. cream cheese - softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg white - beaten
  • GLAZE:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Directions
  • Step 1 Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Get puff pastry & cream cheese out to thaw/soften. Line 2 sheet pans with parchment paper.
  • Step 2 When thawed, unfold puff pastry sheets on each of the 2 sheet pans and cut each into 4 squares. Separate slightly to make it easier to assemble.
  • Step 3 In a medium size bowl, mix strawberries, sugar & cornstarch until well combined.
  • Step 4 In a separate bowl, using a hand mixer, blend cream cheese until smooth, then add vanilla & powdered sugar. Mix thoroughly.
  • Step 5 To assemble, evenly spread approx. 1 tbsp of cream cheese mixture on one corner of each pastry square. Then top cheese mixture with strawberries, being careful to leave enough pastry to fold over the filling.
  • Step 6 Gently fold opposite corner of pastry over filling, making sure to keep filling inside, then crimp the edges with a fork to seal.
  • Step 7 Brush each turnover with egg white, then bake at 400 degrees for approximately 17 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Step 8 Remove from oven and set aside to cool – about 10 minutes.
  • Step 9 Meanwhile make the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk & vanilla in a small bowl with a spoon. When pastry is cooled, drizzle over top of turnovers.
