Here’s an idea for serving everyone’s favorite Cheese & Charcuterie board without spreading germs – Charcuterie Cones!
We made these for a small holiday gathering a few weeks ago, and they were a big hit! You can actually make or buy the cones, but it’s really a fun way to serve the cheese & charcuterie we all know & love!
With a few long toothpicks, some wrapping paper, & some parchment paper, add a few of your favorite cheese board elements – and voila -you have a Charcuterie Cone!
You only need a few ingredients to make a single serving – here’s what I used:
- salami
- grapes
- blueberries
- a soft cheese – such as Brie or Mozzarella balls
- Breadsticks – such as @alessi thin breadsticks
- long crackers
- and a sprig of rosemary is optional, but makes it smell amazing!
Here’s how I made mine:
You will need:
- Wrapping paper or construction paper
- Parchment or other white paper for the lining of your cone
- Tape & scissors
- Something round, like a large bowl, or lid to a skillet (I used a 12”)
- some long toothpicks – mine were 4 inches long – (from @publix)
Simply, trace a circle onto the lining paper, stacked on top of the wrapping paper.
Cut out circle and fold in half, and cut in two. Then fold each half in half again, and cut to make 4 quarter circles.
Using tape, make a cone out of each piece of the lining paper, and then do the same with the wrapping paper. Insert lining cone into the wrapping paper cone. Simple!
Now you are ready to assemble.
Below you can see I put 3 grapes on a pick and a couple berries with a wedge of cheese on another pick. Finally, I folded each salami slice in 1/2, and then folded it in thirds, like an accordion, and put 2 on each pick. To assemble, I put the longest items in first, the breadstick, the rosemary, & the cracker. Then I filled in with the other picks.
To display, I turned a wire basket upside down, and spaced the cones evenly apart in the openings. I found this one @target, at the link here.
Finally, if making the cones is not your bag, you can get some ready made ones from @amazon practically overnight! What a world we live in, right?
So you see, you can still serve a socially responsible cheese board, but without sharing the germs!
Thank goodness!!
