I feel like it’s an unofficial American tradition to have pizza on Fridays. Right? I mean, since we have made it to Friday, its time for a celebration and what better than everyone’s favorite, PIZZA?!
And if you’re like me, I would rather make my own, than pay someone else to make it. So, here are 3 different topping combos & crust options for “homemade” pizza!
Store Bought Pizza Dough –
This is probably my favorite way to do pizza at home, although I do tend to make quite a mess with the flour! My favorite brand is @traderjoes, as I really LIKE the flavor of the crusts, which come out soft, and not too crunchy. I actually eat the crust too, with this pizza dough! An unusual occurrence for me with most pizza! My favorite topping combo is Italian Sausage, Mushroom, Mozzarella with red sauce. You can get the deets here.
Frozen Cauliflower Pizza Crust –
Nutty, riced cauliflower and corn flour form the sturdy base of Trader Joe’s frozen Cauliflower gluten-free crust. Unlike others on the market that are held together with eggs or cheese (thus, higher in calories), this crust is held together with cornstarch, potato starch, olive oil and sea salt. 1 slice (1/6 of the crust) only has 80 calories, 220 milligrams of sodium, and zero grams of fat! Woohoo! We used ours to make a tasty Margherita Pizza with fresh plum tomatoes, pesto & buffalo mozzarella! This pizza wins the Low Calorie award out of this week’s 3 options!
Pizza made with Naan –
This is a great trick. We use fresh naan as a short cut to pizza too. This is really easy to make in a toaster oven. then top the naan like regular pizza and cook it for 5-10 minutes until cheese melts. This pizza wins the Easiest award out of this week’s 3 options! Here’s my recipe for Marsala Mushroom & Goat Cheese Pizza – one of my all-time favorites!
Hope you found some inspo today! Happy Friday-Night-Pizza making!
